Only last week, ADC contacted Nickelodeon regarding an offensive segment of Daffy Duck which aired on November 23, 1996, depicting an Arab villain.
Once again, another offensive cartoon was aired on Nickelodeon on December 5, 1996. In a segment of Batfink entitled "Sandman Sam," a villain goes about "robbing stores all over the city." He rides a camel, wears a white headdress and pointed Arabesque shoes. To elude the police, he "hides behind palm trees." Once again, the villain is an Arab with no counterbalancing positive Arab characters.
How can Arab-American children take pride in their heritage when they are bombarded with such harmful images?
