WGY RADIO BASHES ARABS AFTER EMPIRE STATE SHOOTING

Following the tragic shooting at the Empire State Building, which took the lives of one innocent tourists, talk show host Mark Williams engaged in Arab-bashing on WGY Radio (810 AM) on his February 24, 1997, broadcast.

He called Palestinians "animals," adding that "these people have not lost their tales yet." He also made the following outrageously racist statements:

* "They should be watched, possibly deported." (Speaking of Palestinians)

* "We don't need gun control, we need Palestinian control."

* "Perhaps we should look at legislation to outlaw Islam."

These statements are among the most brazenly racist comments made since the horrendous shooting. An entire community is being blamed for the actions of one mentally disturbed individual. Defaming ethnic and religious groups at will for individual acts is unacceptable.

Please urge WGY Radio not to allow hosts to make such racist comments and ask for a public apology from Mark Williams.
