Founded in 1951, America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST) is a private, nonprofit organization working to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the people of the Middle East and North Africa. Headquartered in Washington, DC, AMIDEAST maintains a network of field offices located in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, the West Bank/Gaza Strip, and Yemen. AMIDEAST pursues its mission through a variety of programs and services. Over the years, over 2.5 million students and professionals have benefited from AMIDEAST's educational advising services in the Middle East and North Africa. Since 1975, AMIDEAST has supervised or administered more than 660,000 standardized tests. More than 78,000 individuals have participated in AMIDEAST-administered education, training, and institutional strengthening programs. Tens of thousands of American educators and students have used AMIDEAST's publications and videos to guide their professional and educational encounters with the Arab world.
Headed by former U.S. Ambassador William A. Rugh, AMIDEAST employs over 200 staff persons worldwide, most of whom are professionals with long experience in international education, the Middle East and North Africa, and U.S. higher education and training.
AMIDEAST Programs & Services:
AMIDEAST are experts on training and education. With a staff of nearly 200 professionals at its Washington, D.C. headquarters and ten offices in the region, AMIDEAST is the oldest and largest organization providing training services for professionals in the Middle East and North Africa.
Each year, AMIDEAST assists more than 140,000 people with information and materials on the U.S. and Arab educational systems, fields of study, admissions and testing requirements, costs, and the application process. In addition, AMIDEAST arranges and oversees training programs in the U.S. and Arab world for over 2,500 professionals annually.
